This Guangzhou Auto Show is the first time CT6 has met with domestic consumers, and it is also the first time this engine has been unveiled in China. This engine, code-named LGW, comes from Cadillac's current latest V6 engine technology platform. At the auto show, we found that Cadillac called this engine the world's first V6 twin-turbocharged variable displacement engine. The maximum output power of the engine is 298kW/5500rpm, and the maximum output torque is 543N·m/2500rpm.
The two turbocharging modules of this engine use a small inertia turbine, which can be easily driven to improve the engine’s dynamic response Speed, reduce turbo lag. In addition, a water-cooled intercooler is used to enhance the cooling effect of the system.
It is worth mentioning that this engine is also equipped with cylinder cut-off technology, which can shut down two of the cylinders under low load conditions. 4 cylinders work, thereby reducing fuel consumption. In addition, the main components such as crankshaft and piston have been improved and strengthened to deal with the power of the engine.
In terms of gearboxes, CT is equipped with GM’s self-developed 8AT gearbox, but not the one on the new ATS-L (8L45) . The gearbox code-named 8L90 on the CT6 body is specially strengthened to cope with the powerful power output of the engine. This gearbox is also used in high-performance vehicles such as ATS-V, CTS-V Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Z06.
As the latest flagship model of the family, Cadillac can be said to be equipped with the strongest powertrain for the CT6. This 3.0T V6 twin-turbocharged engine comes from Cadillac’s latest V6 engine technology platform and also integrates the latest technological achievements; the same is true for the 8AT gearbox mounted on high-performance models such as CTS-V and ATS-V It has good strength, and the strengthened components are enough to cope with the powerful power output of the engine.
