The camshaft is a component of a piston engine, and its role is to control the opening and closing of the valve. Although the speed of the cummins camshaft in a four-stroke engine is half that of the crankshaft (the speed of the camshaft is the same as that of the crankshaft in a two-stroke engine), it usually still has a high speed and needs to withstand a large amount of torque. For the convenience of measuring the axial clearance of the cam, the camshaft timing gear is generally installed on the camshaft before the camshaft is installed. Note that the cooperation between the semicircle key and the keyway cannot be too loose, and the compression bolt of the camshaft timing gear is tightened. Apply oil to the cam journal, hold the camshaft with both hands and turn the camshaft left and right, and gently push it into the camshaft hole. The camshaft is required to rotate flexibly without loosening. Tighten the camshaft timing gear bolt 7 and the cam Shaft thrust pad bolt 5.

Common faults of camshafts

The camshafts produced by our company have few failures. Under normal use conditions, the service life is more than 500,000 kilometers. A few problems are burned or turned outer bearings. The main reason is that the matching clearance between the shaft and the kit is too small or the bearing kit is too worn and the leakage is serious, which causes the camshaft bushing to run out of oil. In addition, the camshaft key and the keyway are too loose when colliding, which is easy to damage and affects the inaccuracy of engine gas distribution.
