Global NCAP announces African collision results for Fengjun 5 and other models
In order to protect the safety of consumers in Africa, the global NCAP launched the #SaferCarsForAfrica (African safety car) campaign in 2017. It is reported that there are no mandatory requirements for airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake force distribution (EBD) in the vehicle access standards of local African countries. As for the above collision results, NCAP Global Secretary-General Alejandro Furas said: 'This is a potential threat to life. The market promotion of this vehicle is far from the actual safety situation.' The Haval H1 and Renault Kwid models are equipped with 2 airbags, and their collision results are slightly better than the Fengjun 5, reaching a 2-star level. However, it can also be seen that some car companies treat different national markets differently, because the Renault Kwid produced in Brazil has reached a 3-star level in Latin NCAP. The results of the collision show that these two cars should work harder on the driver's chest protection and leg protection.

Pickup trucks are popular in the African market, but their safety is uneven. Not only did the Fengjun 5 'turn over' in the crash test, the Nissan NP300 Hardbody also achieved the same 'sporadic' results before. In the Chinese market, all 2021 Fengjun 5 series are equipped with main/passenger airbags as standard, but some 2017 models currently on sale may not be equipped with airbags.
