IECU developed by Chuangshi Technology obtained the first domestic safety certification

Recently, we learned from Shanghai Chuangshi Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. jointly established by SAIC and TTTech that the 'iECU' developed by the company has obtained the first domestic intelligent driving domain controller platform ISO26262 ASILD product certification. This product meets the highest level of automotive functional safety specifications and is a compliant product that has undergone rigorous testing. This indicates that SAIC is further deepening the industrialization of core components of intelligent and networked vehicles.

In the field of autonomous driving, the hardware and software of the controller have their own product development layouts in both traditional car companies and new car manufacturers. For example, Tesla is a typical representative of vertical integration. Its autonomous driving hardware and software, and even chips, are all independently developed. Another strategy is for the automaker to independently develop the software system, but the core components are provided by a third party, just like the cooperation between Desay SV and Xiaopeng Motors. In addition, there are also joint layouts of various automakers, such as the T3 technology platform company jointly established by FAW, Dongfeng, and Changan.

2021 will be a critical year for the development of autonomous driving. Starting from January 1, the 'Automotive Driving Automation Classification' will be officially implemented, and China will have its own classification standards for autonomous vehicles. Some experts predict that in 2021, L3 autopilot models may be mass-produced. But at present, the traditional parts giants are not doing faster than some new companies in the core technology of the intelligent driving industry chain, but this is a brand new opportunity for domestic parts companies.

For example, in recent years, SAIC Passenger Vehicle Technology Center, Commercial Vehicle Technology Center, Intelligent Driving Technology Center, etc. have collaborated with Chuangshi Technology to tackle key problems, and many projects have achieved industrialization. In 2019, the company's first-generation iECU landed on the Roewe MARVEL XPRO, achieving last-mile parking; in 2020, iECU was installed on SAIC 5G smart heavy trucks. In 2021, the new generation of iECU will be applied on the Roewe MARVEL R, and a new iECU is also being developed, which is planned to be used in Zhiji Auto products.

Editor's comment:

Hyundai’s smart car update iterations are too fast, and the market has not yet formed a corresponding scale effect, often new products are eliminated before mass production, and the second generation of products will be updated soon. From the perspective of the industry's ecology, more companies still focus on profit-seeking, and have not treated autonomous driving in a rigorous way, and their awareness of functional safety is not enough. Some companies just do DEMO and do not have mass production capacity. The products developed by them can really achieve perfect performance, which is really rare.
