With the same VR38 engine, why does GT-R50 squeeze 120 horsepower more than Nismo
The limited edition Nissan GT-R50 jointly launched by Nissan and the Italian design company ltaldesign has made its debut at the end of 2019. Nismo and Nissan Technology Center jointly developed the VR38DETT engine for GR-R50, with the help of Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 Racing technology accumulated in racing. Nismo has newly developed 12% of the VR38DETT parts of the GR-R50, including: turbochargers, connecting rods, pistons, fuel injectors, camshafts, etc., all adopt the latest design. In addition, Nismo also enhanced the strength of the drive shaft by using high-strength materials and modifying the surface treatment process to cope with the pressure generated by the engine's 710 horsepower (529 kilowatts) and 780N·m torque.
Nismo said that compared with the current Nissan GT-R Nismo, the GT-R50's 0-124 mph (200 Km/h) is 0.8 seconds faster. In addition to stronger power, the GT-R50 engine complies with Euro 6 standards, which is sufficient to cope with strict European emission standards.
In addition to the engine upgrade, Nismo has also made some adjustments to the GT-R50's brake and suspension system, and the brake part has been replaced. More powerful Brembo brakes increase braking capacity. The chassis has been retuned and replaced with a Bilstein suspension with continuously adjustable damping.
As for the interior of the GT-R50, Nissan did not make much adjustments. It still uses the overall layout of the GT-R interior, but adds more carbon fiber and leather to the interior materials. And Alcantara, which improves the sports atmosphere.
Nissan plans to produce 50 GT-R50s in limited quantities, priced at more than 990,000 euros (approximately 1.2 million at the current exchange rate) U.S. dollars), and plans to start delivery in mid-2021.
