Joyson Electronics joins Lidar and Innovusion ET7

As one of the indispensable key sensors for L3+ autonomous driving, lidar has attracted the attention and participation of a large number of players in the past few years. A few days ago, this field welcomes heavy players again.


On January 12th, Joyson Electronics announced that the company has recently completed its strategic investment in lidar manufacturer Innovusion, and will cooperate with Tudatong through its subsidiary Junlian Zhixing. The first sedan ET7 recently released by Lai Auto provides ultra-long-distance high-precision lidar.

About this lidar, NIO has already introduced it on NIO Day 2020. It has an ultra-wide viewing angle of 120 degrees, an ultra-high resolution equivalent to 300 lines, a maximum detection distance of up to 500 meters, and a focusing function that can distinguish more details. In addition, the lidar uses 1550-nanometer lasers, which avoids the 900-nanometer wavelength that is sensitive to the human eye. While the performance is improved, it can better take care of the safety of others.


Innovusion founder and CEO Bao Junwei revealed in an interview with Gasgoo that the reason why Innovusion sets the resolution of its lidar products to 300 lines is because the human eye can see when watching videos and photos. In the longitudinal field of view of approximately 25° to 30°, it is the minimum requirement to achieve a sufficient resolution of 300 lines. If it is lower than this value, human eyes will miss some important information due to the excessive distance between the lidar wire harness and the wire harness when looking at the screen, which may lead to traffic accidents. Therefore, Innovusion has been committed to building 300-line lidar products since its establishment.


Not only that, Joyson Electronics also revealed that in the future, Junlian Zhixing and Innovusion will use multiple sensors to obtain comprehensive and complete information from the lidar, and conduct deep fusion with the sensor information obtained by the 5G-V2X terminal. Jointly explore in-depth cooperation in lidar perception fusion, high-precision technology, V2X data fusion, and autonomous driving domain controller decision-making algorithms, and jointly promote the industrialization and internationalization of intelligent networked vehicles.


It is reported that the current Junlian Zhixing 5G-V2X vehicle-mounted terminal equipment has also been confirmed to be applied to Weilai ET7 to help ET7 achieve vehicle-road collaborative interconnection communication capabilities, detect road bumps in advance, and synchronize traffic lights. The exact number of seconds and provide the owner with a suggested speed. In addition, the system also has a reminder function for vulnerable traffic participants, and when approaching the vehicle in front, it can combine the speed and distance of the two parties, and use data fusion algorithms to make collision predictions and warnings, which greatly improves driving safety.
