According to foreign media reports, on February 22, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume warned that in the coming months, a severe shortage of global semiconductors may affect the company's daily operations.

Oliver Blume said, 'Because of the huge demand for consumer electronics and the rapid recovery of the automotive industry, the current shortage of semiconductors is a very serious topic that has affected the entire automotive industry. We may be affected every day. So we will pay close attention to what we can do every day for the next few months, and we must find long-term solutions.'

Before Oliver Blume made the above remarks, global car sales surged at the end of last year, and there was a shortage of key automotive chip components. The shortage of supply caused a stagnation in the assembly line of the automotive industry that relied on chips, and the production of hundreds of thousands of cars worldwide was forced to suspend.

The demand for chips soared during the pandemic, as consumer demand for game consoles, laptops and TVs rose during the lockdown. Analysts said the chip shortage has hit the auto industry particularly severely, because the auto industry has relied on just-in-time supply chains for decades to save funds.

When asked whether Porsche will reconsider the current supply chain model, Blume replied, 'Yes, it is very important to reflect on the current supply chain model. We must consider whether the storage space we really need is What. We must be more flexible, and we must plan our immediate capacity more deeply.'

So far this year, the share price of Porsche, which is listed on the German Xetra Dax Index, has risen 15%. In the past year, the company's share price has hardly changed.
