Carol Shelby was fascinated by it the first time he saw Ace. This British-made car has a perfect sports car appearance, and it is this model that gave birth to the incredibly successful Cobra. The excellent appearance of Ace can be traced back to Italy's Carrozzeria Touring, which is the body builder that made the 166MM Barchetta for Ferrari.
The British car factory AC Cars, founded in 1901, made a comeback with the two-seater convertible sports car Ace in 1953 after World War II. He also participated in the Le Mans Race from 1957 to 1959. In 1959, he won the championship at 2,000 c.c. and even defeated a 3,000 c.c. car for seven laps.
The early AC Ace was equipped with the overhead camshaft 2.0-liter inline six developed in 1947 after the First World War Cylinder engine, the frame is a trapezoidal tubular frame, and the four-wheel suspension is equipped with independent transverse leaf springs.
According to a test drive report by foreign media in 1954, AC Ace equipped with this old engine has a top speed of 166km/h, 0-100km/h acceleration in 11.4 seconds, and fuel consumption of 8.93km /l.
Since 1956, AC Cars has provided a 120ps 2.0-liter straight six engine option built by British Bristol Cars. This The straight-six engine is paired with three downdraft carburetors, and the transmission system is the same four-speed manual gearbox. This transmission configuration enables AC Ace to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 187km/h. Since 1956, the overspeed function of the gearbox has also become a standard feature of AC Ace. Since 1957, the front wheel disc brake has been listed as an optional feature of Ace, and then it has become standard.
